Teen Court is cancelled if CMS schools are closed or dismiss early due to weather.

Safety Note for Parents

DO NOT drop off or pick up your teens along 4th street. For safety reasons, the Sheriff’s Department and Teen Court are requesting that you drive INTO the circular drive to pick up and drop off for Teen Court. The jail is across the street with individuals being released at all hours. The Sheriff’s Department has insisted on us having parents use the circular drive. There is no one supervising your child outside of the courthouse.

Eligibility & Service Requirements

Teens in 8th to 12th grade are eligible to submit a Mecklenburg County Teen Court Volunteer Application. Following teen jury training we ask all teens to serve, at a minimum, six Teen Court nights within a year of being trained.

The MCTC Volunteer Application is currently CLOSED. Applications will reopen on February 15 at noon.

We accept Teen Court volunteer applications on a rolling basis and train new jurors several times throughout the year.

Because interest in this program is very high, you may not hear from us right away. If you are selected, you will be contacted when a training class or opening becomes available. If you are not chosen for the next training session, your application may be considered for a future one.

We understand that schedules and interests change. If you apply and later decide Teen Court is no longer a good fit, you’re always welcome to reach out and let us know.
